74: “Santorum for U.S. Senate”

We use the occasion of the 214th anniversary of the ratification of the Bill of Rights, the first ten amendments to the United States Constitution, to warmly and heartily endorse Senator Rick Santorum in his campaign for reelection to the United States Senate.

We endorse Santorum for these twelve reasons:

  1. First, and foremost, Senator Santorum has gone on record as opposing the proposed casino in the Gettysburg area. He was the first politician of national stature to do so, and indeed, did so long before many state and local elected officials (a few of whom still have not come out in opposition!).
  2. Senator Santorum has proven over his previous two terms in the Senate, that he, indeed, has the “right stuff” to represent Pennsylvania in that august body.
  3. As a recent retiree with first-hand knowledge of Pennsylvania’s Welfare system, this blogger has seen first-hand the success of Senator Santorum’s work in crafting the Welfare Reform legislation of the mid-1990s. It worked immediately when instituted, and has continued to achieve results in getting people from welfare to work, not just in Pennsylvania, but across the nation.
  4. As a retiree, GettysBLOG is very pleased with the caring work Senator Santorum has done on Social Security, and we further endorse his Social Security Guarantee legislation.
  5. As a homeowner, GettysBLOG appreciates Senator Santorum’s stand on taxes, and his goal of reducing the personal tax burden of every citizen.
  6. As a proud (and moderate) Conservative, GettysBLOG shares Senator Santorum’s philosophy of smaller, more efficient government, and eliminating wasteful spending practices such as pork-barrel projects, from Congressional habits – in other words, it’s not more government for the buck, it’s more government value for the buck.
  7. GettysBLOG is pro-preservation, be that Pennsylvania’s Civil War and Revolutionary War battlefields and historical locations, or simply Adams County’s farmland. GettysBLOG is not anti development, he is anti-runaway development. GettysBLOG would rather see three times the spending on redevelopment than on new development. Senator Santorum’s Farmland Preservation Program successfully moves toward these ends.
  8. Senator Santorum has worked hard to ban the heinous and unnecessary practice of partial birth abortions.
  9. Rick Santorum has emerged as a leader in the national Republican Party, serving as one of the more reliable advisors to President Bush, and to Congressional leadership. He has gathered seniority now, and has become one of the most respected leaders in Congress.
  10. Rick Santorum is an unabashed compassionate conservative. He has explained his philosophy in print, and in the media. It is a philosophy that cares for people, yet still requires personal responsibility.
  11. GettysBLOG likes his style, and his message, and we adore the way he disarms and dismantles the left’s ugliness and lies currently being hurled at the President.
  12. Finally, GettysBLOG notes that when Senators are seen on TV, they are on talk shows, and doing sound bites for the evening news. One rarely sees the hard working Santorum in these venues. The images one sees of Santorum is walking out of the White House after a meeting with the President, or walking with ordinary folks of his constituency, with his coat and tie off, and his sleeves rolled up.

We encourage our readers to become more familiar with Senator Rick Santorum and his message at Rick Santorum.com.

In May, and again in November, vote Rick Santorum for United States Senate. Hard working, steady, centered, experienced, and clearly a leader.
